FROM THE PASTOR -- September 2010
A favorite author of mine is Brian Harbour. He shared the following story: “My wife, Jan and I went early to the opening of a much-publicized movie in order to beat the crowd. The parking lot was packed, however, so I dropped Jan off and looked for a place to park. Driving down one lane, I noticed a car pulling out of a space.
Another car approached from the opposite direction, but I was there first, so when the car pulled out, I rushed into the parking place and headed into the movie. After the movie, I found a Driver’s Handbook resting on the front windshield of my car with this note scribbled on it: “You took my parking place. That was rude. Read this book. Maybe it will help you do better next time.”
I used this story to say we all need help from time to time trying to navigate the direction of our lives. Direction is even needed within the church, too. A few weeks back during a Wednesday night prayer meeting I spoke of trying to establish some “think tanks” to help give our church some direction for the future. Would you give some prayer and consideration to volunteer to be a member of these “think tanks.” Please seek me out or I will be coming to some of you.
My sermons in recent weeks have tried to not only focus on the future of Clarkesville Baptist Church but our relationships to God, each other within the church, and those outside the church. May we continue with a greater dedication to prepare for the future that God is opening in front of each of us.
Our annual church conference is history and we have concluded another year. I thank each and every one of you who served our Lord and each other here at CBC during this period. May we all be reminded that ALL of us are needed to make this church year of 2010-2011 one of the greatest. I have no doubt that God has some great blessings awaiting our church.
Thanks for opportunity to be your pastor. I pray for God’s touch upon our lives in the days ahead.
Your pastor and friend,
Grady
